Projects

Less snow, fewer avalanches? We investigate the influence of climate change on avalanches by using climate projections to model future snow instability for selected representative sites in Switzerland.

TRAMM was a research project of the ETH Competence Centre of Environment and Sustainability (CCES) from 2006 to 2015 with the aim to better understand mechanisms of rapid mass movements.

The goal of this project is to take advantage of recently developed avalanche models and detection systems to setup a model framework for avalanche forecasting in Switzerland and to assess changes and uncertainties in avalanche hazard due to climate change.

Detection of avalanches using seismic and DAS measurements to improve avalanche forecasting, formation, and characterization.
