Alpine3D is a spatial, three-dimensional snow cover and earth surface model developed by the SLF.

Avalanche hazard maps are prepared by engineers and land-planners who rely both on practical experience and calculation models to predict avalanche runout distances and flow velocities.

In its avalanche bulletins, the SLF provides information about the current avalanche situation. Its content is designed as an informed warning.

EnviDat is the WSL data portal providing unified and managed access to environmental monitoring and research data. The portal has the capability to host and publish data sets. Through the sharing of unique and high-value data sets worldwide, EnviDat fosters research and contributes to advancing environmental science.

The SLF maintains a database record of all known avalanches since 1936 that have caused personal injury or property damage. The very extensive destructive avalanche database, which is without parallel worldwide, now encompasses 15,000 records.

GIN is a multi-agency product of the FOEN, MeteoSwiss, the SED and the SLF. It is overseen by the GIN secretariat.
