Flächendeckende Gefahrenhinweiskarten für Lawinen für Graubünden und Liechtenstein.

Die WSL und ihr Industriepartner GEOBRUGG testen eine neue Steinschlagbarriere mittels grossmasstäblichen Tests in natürlichem Gelände.

Das SLF hat eine Simulationssoftware für Steinschlag entwickelt. Mithilfe von Experimenten, wie kürzlich in Spitzbergen, lässt sich dieses Computermodell immer besser der Realität annähern.

Rockfalls, debris flows and rockslides are gravitational mass movements that occur frequently in the mountains. Several SLF research groups are jointly developing methods to detect potential instabilities as early as possible.

The CCAMM cluster "Cascading Processes"develops knowledge and models that can be used to anticipate future cascading events.

In this project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC / DEZA), we propose to apply large scale hazard indication mapping algorithms to the Himalayan province of Uttarakhand. Our goal is to identify unstable rock/ice masses and perform thermo-mechanical simulations - at the large-scale - to predict the danger of rock/ice avalanches, such as the recent event in Chamoli.

This project will combine field monitoring of debris flow sites, laboratory and field experiments, two-phase granular flow mechanics and numerical simulations to assess how debris flow mitigation must evolve in future.

The rock slope instability "Spitze Stei" constitutes a risk for the touristic infrastructure around lake Öschinensee and the village Kandersteg. Our project task will investigate the mechanisms which led to the slope destabilisation and analyse scenarios for slope failures.
